Story of Things is a go-to, thoughtfully curated, online marketplace sharing the unique stories of Australian design and its creators. All products on Story of Things are designed in Australia and ethically made. Story of Things is the brainchild and passion project of Jess Reftel Evans & Martin Reftel of Amorfo Photography and Petrina Turner of Petrina Turner Design.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work with Story of Things was styling a series of visual stories—each one curated to showcase a unique narrative through the work of different Australian makers.

Each scene was thoughtfully composed to highlight the individuality of the pieces while creating a cohesive, emotive story. From ceramics and textiles to furniture and art, I layered colour, texture, and form to evoke a mood, a moment, or a sense of place. Every detail was chosen to honour the craftsmanship, character, and creative vision behind each object.

These visual stories were more than just product styling—they were about connection, storytelling, and celebrating the richness of Australian design through meaningful composition.
