I’m Petrina Turner, the curious, compassionate, and multi-passionate creative behind Petrina Turner Design.
With 30 years of passion, creativity and expertise in residential, retail, and commercial interior design and styling, I’ve had the privilege of learning and growing through a combination of formal education and a lifetime of professional development. I hold an Associate Diploma of Architectural Drafting, a Diploma of Interior Design & Decorating, a Bachelor of Design Arts (Interior Design), and I’m always exploring new ways to expand my knowledge.
Sketching and model-making are where I really get to dive deep into the shape, form, and human touch of my projects. On the digital side, I create captivating visualisations and clear, detailed design documentation that makes the implementation process seamless.
My creative journey began as a design student, where I won the national HPM Industries Award for Excellence in Design, and was honoured to be named Best Overall Student upon graduation. Over my 30-year career, many of my projects have been published, and I’m proud of the recognition they’ve received.
My early memories are filled with family gatherings, sharing stories over meals, and witnessing my mum’s entrepreneurial spirit—those experiences have shaped my values and work ethic.
I truly believe that our wellbeing is closely tied to the spaces we inhabit, and I bring all my knowledge, experience, joy—and a little of the unexpected—into creating environments that nurture people.
Giving back is a big part of who I am. I’m proud to support the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), where I’ve donated my time and expertise to help design and style their Home of Hope in Footscray, as well as their Innovation Hub and award-winning Food Justice Truck.
I’m also a bit of an over-sharer and enjoy speaking at design events, contributing to interior media publications, and educating others in design and styling.
And when I’m not busy with all of that, you might just catch me tapping my way through some spare time as a not-so-secret tap dancer!
